**Fungal Infection (Vaginal Candidiasis / Thrush)**

## **How it Works**

Clotrimazole is a broad-spectrum antifungal medicine that works by blocking the production of **ergosterol**, an essential component of the fungal cell membrane. This damages the fungal cell, stopping its growth and eliminating the infection.

## **Usage & Safety**

### **Dosage**

**Adults:** Insert **1 vaginal tablet at bedtime for 6 consecutive nights**, or use as directed by your physician.

### **Side Effects**

* Burning, irritation or itching
* Rash, redness or swelling
* Pelvic or abdominal pain
* Vaginal discomfort or bleeding
* Rare allergic reactions (difficulty breathing, low blood pressure, fainting)

### **Drug Interactions**

May interact with **Tacrolimus** and **Sirolimus**. Inform your doctor about all medicines you are taking.

## **Indication**

Used for the treatment of **vaginal candidiasis (thrush)** caused by susceptible fungal infections.

## **When Not to Use**

Do not use if you:

* Are allergic to Clotrimazole or any of its ingredients.
* Have lactose intolerance unless advised by your doctor.
* Are menstruating (start treatment after your period ends).

## **Precautions**

If symptoms do not improve within **7 days**, consult your physician. Treatment may be repeated if the infection returns, but frequent recurrences (more than twice in 6 months) require medical evaluation.

## **Warnings**

Seek medical advice before use if this is your **first vaginal yeast infection**, if you have had **more than two infections within six months**, a **history of sexually transmitted disease**, or symptoms such as **irregular vaginal bleeding, blood-stained discharge, ulcers, blisters, sores, or severe pelvic pain**.
